The\u00a0<em>Die Hard<\/em>\u00a0actor was diagnosed in 2023, following an earlier diagnosis of aphasia that led to his retirement from acting.<\/p>\n<p>Rumer posted on Instagram, expressing her deep longing for her father. \u201cToday is hard,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI feel a deep ache in my chest to talk to you\u2026 to hug you and ask you about life and your stories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cBut I know you wouldn\u2019t want me to be sad today\u2026 I\u2019ll try to be grateful, reminding myself how lucky I am that you\u2019re my dad\u2026 I can still hold you and kiss your cheek.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rumer also spoke about her gratitude for the little things, like seeing Bruce\u2019s eyes light up when he sees her daughter Louetta. Since his diagnosis, Emma has become a powerful advocate, sharing the realities of their journey.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2024 interview with\u00a0<em>Town &amp; Country<\/em>, she reflected, \u201cAs his language started changing, it seemed like a stutter\u2026 Never in a million years did I think it was dementia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She described frontotemporal dementia as a condition that \u201cwhispers,\u201d making it difficult to pinpoint when Bruce\u2019s personality gave way to the disease.
